Lake Ki Sunrise
Lake Ki Sunrise was hybridized by Monti Cangiamilla of Arlington, Washington.
Long before it was prepared for commercial release, Monti recognized something special in this seedling. Its memorable color, distinctive anemone center, garden productivity, and performance on the show bench distinguished it as a variety worthy of introduction.
Heron’s Nest Dahlias and Freestad Flowers are honored to help bring Monti’s creation to dahlia growers across the country.
At the 2024 American Dahlia Society National Show in Wenatchee, Washington, Monti Cangiamilla’s triple entry of Lake Ki Sunrise received Best Triple Anemone Dahlias.
Presenting three blooms together requires more than one exceptional flower. Each bloom must demonstrate the consistency, form, and quality necessary to compete as a unified entry. Lake Ki Sunrise has continued to earn ribbons and head-table recognition as more growers have begun exhibiting it.
The variety also received a score of 87.3 in trial-garden evaluation and 89.5 on the American Dahlia Society bench.
Authorized 2027 Release
Lake Ki Sunrise will be introduced through an authorized release by Heron’s Nest Dahlias, working with hybridizer Monti Cangiamilla.
A Release in Memory of Chumlee
Lake Ki Sunrise carries a story that extends beyond the garden. Chumlee, Monti’s beloved English bulldog, was a cherished part of his life while Lake Ki Sunrise was being grown and selected. In Chumlee’s memory, every Lake Ki Sunrise purchase will generate a donation to a Bulldog Rescue.
